Quote I Love: A victory

A victory in California today. A victory for us all.

“Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.”

Judge Vaughn Walker

Onward and upward.

Cheers,
Sloan

  1. Score one for our side. Opps! I keep forgetting I’m straight. Oh well. This is at least a step in the right direction for all people.

  2. Thanks, Chris. The opposition arguments make me sick. It’s nice to read the judge’s take on it.

PG: :) Have you read the full text? Very cool.

Arlene: *hugs* It’s the side of equality and anyone who believes that’s worth fighting for.

  3. I am hoping that more and more this is becoming a LOSING fight for those that oppose same-sex marriage. 50 years ago it was against the law to marry outside of your race (which woulda sucked for me)……I will never understand why anyone thinks it is THEIR business who anyone chooses to marry. Love makes life worth living and if you can find it? CELEBRATE it. Hate mongers really need to find something worthy to fight FOR. ARGH! I just will never get it! This is a step in the right direction. How have we come to a point in time when we give basic rights only to try to take them away by people they DONT affect? Yay California, we got it right THIS time…let’s hope it spreads!

  4. Well said, Elaine!! I honestly don’t get it. So much money, energy, and time focused on hate. How can they think what they are doing is right?
