Some Love Stories Can Change the World

“From acclaimed writer/director Jeff Nichols, “Loving” celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry.” – Focus Features

I cannot wait to see this movie. A real-life love story that serves as a reminder that love is an unstoppable force. It’s stronger than hatred and discrimination. It’s stronger than unjust laws and bigotry and intolerance.

Thank you to all the brave people like the Lovings who fought injustice and won.

  1. Thanks for that Sloan,I am here living in my own little bubble I had no idea a movie was in the making. As a Jamaican American woman married to a Caucasian Man for 29 years and two children later I no doubt have “The Lovings” and others like them to thank for paving the way. Can’t wait for the movie.

    • That’s wonderful, Claudia. So glad you saw the post. From the previews, it looks like they did a fantastic job with their story. Can’t wait!
