Late post again this week. Sorry guys. Writing is coming along nicely, though. New ideas are flowing again. And if you didn’t see it, this week I blogged about writing when the muse is asleep at Loose Ends.
Speaking of ideas…
Today I’d like to share some of the behind the story details about More, specifically my first notes for the main character of Luke Moore. These are directly from the original character sketch sheet, including the photo I used for inspiration. (The final result of what a character looks like may be nothing like the photo, but an image gives me something to visualize, making him/her a bit more real. Some of the traits change as I write the story. Some become no longer relevant.)

Sampling of Character Sketch & Personality Traits
- Full name: Lukas Moore
- Zodiac Sign: Taurus
- Best Friend: Walter Simon
- Parents: are well-off. They have live-in staff.
- Sleeps in his underwear
- A programmer
- Likes things that are logical with one solid solution
- His apartment is in a low-rent area. It’s small and shabby, but he doesn’t need much. He spends his money on the security system he’s put in place.
- He doesn’t have much in the way of possessions. He moves a lot. He likes to keep his life simple. Uncomplicated. Physical stuff just bogs a person down. Ties them to a time and place. He doesn’t want to be tied to anything.
- Doesn’t own a car
- Independent, self-reliant, private
- Detached
- Successful at work
- Logical
- Determined
- Strong willed
- Thinks only of himself (unless he’s in bed with someone).
- Focused on self-preservation (and winning against his father) to the point of keeping everyone at a distance, even his best friend, Walter, at times.
- Fears most: Being like his father
All my blog posts with behind the story information are also archived on my website at www.sloanparker.com
Hope you enjoyed a look at my original ideas for Luke.

Sorry there was no post on Friday. I’ve spent the past week working on an outline for More #3 (Matthew’s story) and time got away from me.
For today’s video here is a wonderful collection of Steve Walker’s paintings. His work is gorgeous, and each one could serve as the inspiration for an entire story. Check out his site at www.stevewalkerartist.com

I guest blogged at Loose Ends (the Loose Id author blog) today. I talked about creativity and where it comes from. Stop by and let me know where you think people get their creativity. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Here’s this week’s video I love…
“Donald Arthur had been given 6 months to live when he received a heart transplant. Now, with a new passion and purpose, he’s trying to complete a marathon in all 50 states.” – Source: vitality.yahoo.com

Now I call that a great second chance.
Have a great week!

Once a week I post a video I’m loving. Here’s this week’s…
I hadn’t heard of this father and son before, but someone mentioned that they’ve been featured on several shows. Amazing story!

Hope you all have a great week!

Once a week I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else). So here is this week’s For the Love of…
I was the guest blogger over at Fiction with Friction yesterday, talking about my first book and my first love. I’m feeling a bit sentimental on both counts, so I thought I’d share the link to that post for today’s “For the Love of” Friday blog.
The post is titled: I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.
You can check it out at: http://bit.ly/ahTf0o
I’d love to hear about your own first love story. Feel free to leave a comment here or on the Fiction with Friction blog.
Hope you have a great day,
Sloan
Once a week I post a quote I love. It may be related to writing, inspiration, lgbt issues, my own life, or anything else that interests me. So here’s this week’s Quote I Love…
“When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another.”
Helen Keller
I’ve seen this quote many times over the years, and I still love it. This woman always amazed me. Nothing held her back. We should all be so brave and bold.
Once a week, I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else) that I’ve seen or read about recently. So here is this week’s For the Love of…
I’m a sucker for great kisses. Mostly for myself (who wouldn’t be?), but I do enjoy watching a lovely couple kiss. Sometimes when writing about a kiss (and the other physical stuff too), I’ll look at images for inspiration. Yeah, I love my work.
I also use pics for settings and character descriptions, but looking at the kisses is way more fun!
So today I’m sharing some great same-sex kisses I thought would be good for inspiration (most are m/m but there’s a couple f/f that I love). And they’re not all lips to lips. Enjoy!
Did they inspire you?
