Once a week, I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else) that I’ve seen or read about recently. So here is this week’s For the Love of…
I’m a sucker for great kisses. Mostly for myself (who wouldn’t be?), but I do enjoy watching a lovely couple kiss. Sometimes when writing about a kiss (and the other physical stuff too), I’ll look at images for inspiration. Yeah, I love my work.
I also use pics for settings and character descriptions, but looking at the kisses is way more fun!
So today I’m sharing some great same-sex kisses I thought would be good for inspiration (most are m/m but there’s a couple f/f that I love). And they’re not all lips to lips. Enjoy!
Did they inspire you?

I was telling some of my writer friends this week about how I use photos for inspiration when describing my characters and settings. I also use them to help describe physical actions (like kissing!). I love to find photos for what I call “almost kisses.” It’s that moment right before a kiss where the couple (or more!) is so close to touching lips to lips, but aren’t quite yet. In a photo, you can freeze that moment in time. In fiction, you can drag it out and build up the tension. It can be one of the most romantic moments, especially for a couple’s first kiss. Here are some good ones:
So what physical moment is the most romantic for you? Is it different in fiction than in real life?

With the close of every year, I try to take a few minutes to remember all the wonderful moments of my life, the friends and family and significant times that have made the year special for me.
As 2009 came to a close, I took a moment to remember one special little guy who brightened many days for me, but unfortunately lost his battle with cancer this past year. Today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite photos of him. He was a big part of what made me smile every day, and I thank my niece for suggesting I take a look at this homeless little guy all those years ago.
Jesse was smart and regal and full of live. And he was a fighter. He was sick from the minute I adopted him. Several times my vet looked at me in that caring way he has and tried to tell me he didn’t think Jesse would have a long life, that this time it might be the end. But Jesse would have none of that. He came back to full force many times over and lived to play another day. He was one of the gentlest, smartest pets I’ve ever known. It was hard sometimes to tell he was blind.
Thanks to these pictures, Jesse still makes me smile.
I hope you all have a wonderful, healthy, happy 2010!!

When I start thinking about my characters for a new story, I find a couple pictures for each. Nothing that looks exactly like them, but close enough to what I’m picturing that the photos help me get the descriptions from my head to the paper.
I’m a sucker for a good smile. It’s one of the physical traits that draw me to a person. So I always try to find one picture for each guy that has a smile. Something to look at when I’m writing a scene where he’s happy, when he’s falling in love — even if he doesn’t want to admit that.
So today, I thought I’d share some of the newer pictures I’ve found. I haven’t used any of these yet, but they have some great smiles.
So what do you think? Do you like a good smile? What other aspects do you find attractive in a person?

Due to my hectic multiple days of holiday fun this year (yes, I had three days of Thanksgiving), I don’t have a long post for today, but I do have some pictures of lovely couples to share. They are some of my faves from flickr. I hope you enjoy these beautiful, romantic images.
Thanks for stopping by!

I’m loving Dylan Ricci’s Photography. His work is beautiful and inspiring. Visit the site at www.dylanricci.com where you can check out galleries of his work. Amazing stuff, folks. Note: These are nude male photos. May not be work safe.
Here’s some text from the site:
“I have become regarded as a photographer of the male nude, although it is not the male nude per se that interests me. What excites and fascinates me and motivates my explorations of the innate aesthetic beauty of the male body are the very same elements of image-making that have obsessed western artists for centuries: the interplay of light and form.”
“Ricci’s images are stylish, classic with a sense of timeless beauty often lacking in contemporary male nude photography.”
What do you think? Which picture is your favorite? Comment or send me an email. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I am loving this picture. There’s just something so intimate about the touches and yet there’s also something “every day” about it at the same time, like the couple has held each other like that a thousand times before. It’s too bad we don’t live in a world where we can all show our affections this openly everywhere we go. Because it’s a beautiful thing! Just take a look …

I am loving this family. What a great photo. And yay for them to be marching in the pride parade.
It isn’t easy to put yourself out there when there are still so many that hate us and treat us with disgust and even violence.
Hats off…
