For the Love of: Adonis Art Gallery

Once a week, I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else) that I’ve seen or read about recently. So here is this week’s For the Love of…

Please note: the site linked below contains explicit gay imagery and nude artwork.

I love browsing the Adonis Art Gallery, “the premier gallery of art of the male form.” The gallery and their website include “limited edition prints, art books and a wide range of greeting cards featuring male art.”

Adonis Art “was established in London in 1995. It is situated in the Earl’s Court district of central London – one of the most gay-friendly neighbourhoods in the city.”

Check out their Erotic Art page for beautiful erotic figures, paintings, watercolors, explicit drawings, and much more. Some really lovely stuff here, folks. You can shop and browse until your heart’s content. I found a few pieces I’d love to have in my house.

Enjoy!

Quote I Love: Mind Your Own Journey

Once a week, I post one of my favorite quotes or something interesting I’ve read or heard recently. Here’s this week’s Quote I Love…

“Everybody’s journey is individual. If you fall in love with a boy, you fall in love with a boy. The fact that many Americans consider it a disease says more about them than it does about homosexuality.”

American novelist
August 2, 1924 – November 30, 1987

For the Love of: If Star Wars had Facebook

Once a week, I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else) that I’ve seen or read about recently. So here is this week’s For the Love of…

I’m totally loving these Star Wars screenshots at collegehumor.com. They show what it might look like if Star Wars had Facebook. The statuses for each character are perfect.

Video I Love: Miraculous Haiti Rescue

Once a week, I post a video I’ve seen recently that I’m loving. So here’s this week’s Video I Love …

With so much news of sadness, despair, and devastation in Haiti, it was nice to see this video with a miraculous rescue and a happy ending. I can only imagine what it was like for those boys and everyone else waiting for news.

Miraculous Haiti Rescue Saves One So. Fla. Mother (click link to watch)
“For five days and 12 hours, Michael and Ricky Dittmer had been waiting for word from their mother in Haiti.”

It all just breaks my heart. I get to the point where I don’t want to turn on the TV. Then I feel incredibly guilty over that avoidance. May we soon see an end to the suffering. May all the survivors know peace and comfort and love.

For the Love of: Animal Stories

Once a week, I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else) that I’ve seen or read about recently. So here is this week’s For the Love of …

I’m sharing more videos this week. Sometimes a great animal story can just make my day. Thanks to Rosie for sharing these with me.

This first one reminds me of my cat Hunter. He’s pretty good at giving kisses, and I don’t use any food as a reward. I’m not sure if that means Hunter is really smart, or really stupid. Or maybe I am because I let him lick my cheek.

This one shows baby raccoons being rescued from a vending machine. Awww, come on, you know it’s cute. Baby raccoons. You can say it…

Here’s one about an amazing dog named Faith. A few years ago, I saw the story of how her owners taught her to walk on two legs. It wasn’t an easy task. It took them many hours working with her and a lot of lost sleep (so she wouldn’t hurt herself). Amazing. Now she’s helping recovering veterans. Pretty cool.

You can read more about Faith on her site: http://faiththedog.info (be sure to check out her puppy pic)

And here’s a pic of Faith with Rick Springfield for my friend Connie. Enjoy, hon!

Quote I Love: Bradley Cooper is happy with gay rumors‎

Once a week, I post a quote that I’ve read/heard recently. So here’s this week’s Quote I Love …

Bradley Cooper recently commented on the best rumor “he’s ever read about himself.” The rumor came “after attending an event with his actor friend Victor Garber and it was reported they were dating.” (Source) Here’s what Cooper had to say:

“People thought we were dating. It was all over the internet. It was the first time I read a rumor like that about me, and I just thought it was fantastic.”

Bradley Cooper
Actor

Good for him. This is the kind of thing we need to see and hear from straight men. Not the standard disgusted-by-it-cause-you-might-think-I’m-God-forbid-gay response from many others.

Is it wrong that I find Bradley Cooper and Victor Garber together incredibly hot?

I’m a sucker for May/December romances. Guess this one will just have to live in my brain.

Video I Love: Star Wars – The Other B-Team

Once a week, I post a video I’ve seen recently that I’m loving. So here’s this week’s Video I Love …

When I was a kid, The A-Team was one of the many shows my dad and I used to watch together (he and I have always had similar tastes in movies and TV shows). But it wasn’t just me and my dad. The A-Team was such a hit with my friends and me, we wrote our own version titled The B-Team, which we videotaped for a class project. Yeah, we were dorks (but it was a classroom-forced dorkness which we used to create a kick-ass rendition of a popular TV show, thus making us look cool). That project was one of my earliest writing credits. Wish I could remember what our episode was about. Something to do with helping the oppressed and huge-ass explosions (which, of course, we couldn’t replicate).

I saw this video and just had to share. It brings together the theme from The A-Team and Star Wars. Just perfect. And something about it definitely screams The B-Team.

Project Update & Scheduled Date for More

Hi all. I hope you are having a wonderful new year, and I hope you and your families are happy and healthy throughout 2010!

Instead of a quote for today, I’m posting an update on my writing. I’m excited to share:

  • I have a tentative release date for More … March 23! That’s subject to change, of course. I’m getting more and more excited and nervous as the weeks go by. And I’m learning a lot about patience in the process. The book is going through final proofing next. I’ll let you know when it’s added to the Loose Id coming soon page.
  • I’ve renamed my current manuscript from The Whiskey Sipper to Breathe. It’s still a tentative title at this stage in the process, but I think it fits the book better.
  • I’m getting ready to do another pass of revisions to Breathe.  So far I’ve gone through the entire manuscript from beginning to end one time through. I have no idea how many passes I’ll make this time, but my guess is that I still have a couple months of work left on it. I’ll let you all know when it’s done and sent off.
  • I have two short stories I’ve written in the last half of 2009. I really like them both, and I’m debating what I want to do with them. I was going to put them on my website as freebies, but I think I’m going to submit them to a couple anthologies for 2011. If they aren’t selected, or if I decide not to submit them, I’ll put them up on the site. I’ll let you know when I’ve made a decision.

2009 has been a wonderful journey to publication, and I want to say thanks for all the support and encouragement I’ve received from the various on-line readers and writers of LGBT fiction! I’ve learned so much in the past 2 years and have enjoyed getting to know everyone.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Sloan Parker

Video I Love: Gay Sex Scene on US Daytime TV

Once a week, I post a video I’ve seen recently that I’m loving. So here’s this week’s Video I Love …

On Wednesday December 30, the ABC soap One Life to Live became the first US soap to break the same sex barrier for an “on-screen” love scene when Oliver and Kyle spent almost two-and-a-half minutes “getting busy.” I’m not a regular viewer of the show, but I wanted to share. It’s a great scene, reminiscent of traditional, romantic love scenes (even including the traditional “after sex” shot with the blankets covering their nipples. hehehe).

Thank you to One Life to Live, ABC, Scott Evans, and Brett Claywell. Kudos!!

Wasn’t it lovely?
