How anyone can watch this video and not see a beautiful, loving family deserving of respect and the same rights as any other family is beyond me.
“If one wishes to know love, one must live love, in action.”
- Leo Buscaglia
“The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was.
Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere.
They’re in each other all along.”
-Maulana Jalalu’ddin Rumii
A couple’s first kiss is always a special moment in any romance. So far I have not tired of writing that scene, no matter the characters.
“I always say that there is no greater act of courage than to be the one who kisses first.”
-from Mad About You
“The most eloquent silence; that of two mouths meeting in a kiss.”
“Passion is to kiss or to hug and to prove that action speaks louder than words.”
“Kissing is like drinking salted water: you drink and your thirst increases.”
“There is the kiss of welcome and of parting, the long, lingering, loving, present one; the stolen, or the mutual one; the kiss of love, of joy, and of sorrow; the seal of promise and receipt of fulfillment.”
-Thomas C. Haliburton
Was watching an old episode of Brothers & Sisters the other day and thought I’d share one of my favorite quotes from the show. This one always makes me think of my honey. There’s nothing like knowing you can be exactly who you are and be loved for it.
Kevin: You know, it’s like all these crazy people in my family are in this insane freefall and completely incapable of being happy. And then I look at Saul, who… who’s missed his life entirely. And I realize how lucky I am because I get to come home to someone who is kind and caring, and who changes the lightbulbs… and… marry me.
Kevin: I mean it. I don’t want to wait. I want to make this official.
Scotty: Because I changed the lightbulbs?
Kevin: No, well, yeah, kind of. Because, Scotty, that’s who you are. I’m completely, completely in love with you. I even love the things about you that I hate. Because you make me feel like I don’t have to be anyone other than who I am. And to me, that feels like family, and that’s what I want us to be. I want us to be a family because that never ends. I’m doing this all wrong. [gets down on his knees] Scotty, I’m asking you. Will you please marry me?
Scotty: Yes. Yes, Kevin, I’ll marry you.

Here’s this week’s quote I love…
“Love is always bestowed as a gift — freely, willingly, and without expectation… We don’t love to be loved; we love to love.”
Isn’t it lovely?
Once a week, I post a quote that I’ve read/heard recently. So here’s this week’s Quote I love …
I’m a romantic. I admit it. I believe in love.
Falling in love is one of the most healthy, wonderful things a person can experience…for the soul, the heart, the body, the mind. It’s the falling out of love that often destroys us. Or never letting ourselves love in the first place (just ask Jonathan Moore, the antagonist from my book More.) And the hardest part for some is when he or she still loves someone and that love isn’t returned. But even though I know too many people who have been burned by love, it’s still something I believe in. I live it every day. It does exist.
Here’s a quote I saw this week that speaks to those beliefs.
“I would prove to men how wrong they are to think that they stop falling in love when they grow old, without knowing you grow old when you stop falling in love.”
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter and journalist
What do you think? Am I a big ol’ sap? Or do you believe in love? Comment on this post or send me an email. I’d love to hear from you.
