Quote I Love: Because I changed the light bulbs?

Was watching an old episode of Brothers & Sisters the other day and thought I’d share one of my favorite quotes from the show. This one always makes me think of my honey. There’s nothing like knowing you can be exactly who you are and be loved for it.

Kevin: You know, it’s like all these crazy people in my family are in this insane freefall and completely incapable of being happy. And then I look at Saul, who… who’s missed his life entirely. And I realize how lucky I am because I get to come home to someone who is kind and caring, and who changes the lightbulbs… and… marry me.

Scotty: What?

Kevin: I mean it. I don’t want to wait. I want to make this official.

Scotty: Because I changed the lightbulbs?

Kevin: No, well, yeah, kind of. Because, Scotty, that’s who you are. I’m completely, completely in love with you. I even love the things about you that I hate. Because you make me feel like I don’t have to be anyone other than who I am. And to me, that feels like family, and that’s what I want us to be. I want us to be a family because that never ends. I’m doing this all wrong. [gets down on his knees] Scotty, I’m asking you. Will you please marry me?

Scotty: Yes. Yes, Kevin, I’ll marry you.

Making love on a Monday: Quote from JL Langley

Felt like posting something sexy today, and since I’m not ready to share my work-in-progress, here’s a quote from another author of gay romance, J. L. Langley. This is from the first kiss between Ethan and Jamie in the The Tin Star.

Ethan knew it was a bad idea, but he just had to taste that sensual mouth. He leaned forward, his lips lightly brushing Jamie’s. Jamie gasped, and before Ethan knew what hit him, Jamie had taken over, his mouth crushing his, tongue pushing for entrance. He grabbed Ethan’s face with both hands and urgently pressed his body against Ethan’s, or as near to it as he could get with them both still sitting. He was rough, aggressive, practically swallowing Ethan up as his tongue searched and caressed every bit of Ethan’s mouth. Finally, he calmed down a little, gentling the kiss, and Ethan had the chance to kiss him back at last. Jamie’s hands slid to his shoulders. Their tongues met and parried. It was like making slow and easy love. Jamie moaned.

It was one of the most erotic things Ethan had ever heard and made him even more painfully erect.

RRW is Looking For Quotes About Writing

For all my writer friends out there…

Share Your Wisdom, Inspiration & Experience With Other Writers

Rainbow Romance Writers (RRW), a chapter of Romance Writers of America, is looking for volunteers to submit brief quotes about writing to be featured in our newsletter, the Pot of Gold.

The newsletter is published quarterly for members of RRW, writers of LGBT romances at various stages of their writing careers (new writers working on their first story to multi-published authors, as well as a few publishers and editors).

If anyone is interested in submitting an original quote, we’d love for you to share your wisdom, experience, inspiration, humor, etc. about writing. Quotes will be selected based on their relevance to the current newsletter’s theme (New Year/New Beginnings). Topics could include motivation, setting goals, starting a new project, trying something new, or others. General quotes about writing and why you write are also welcome. Quotes submitted before January 17, 2011 will be considered for the upcoming edition and some may be saved for future editions.

Please use this form to submit a quote: http://bit.ly/gzZOFE
Feel free to pass along the link to anyone who may be interested.

Thank you,

Quote I Love: Life would not be complete without…

Sorry I missed posting on Monday, but I’m plugging away on Walter and Kevin’s story to meet my last writing goal for the year: finishing the first draft of this novel. Two days to go. Not sure I’ll make it, but I should be pretty close by the end of the day on Friday. Then I’ll be in editing mode.

Today I wrote a couple of passion-filled scenes. I was pretty happy with how they turned out (even in this first draft), so I felt like sharing a quote about love and passion today.

“Life would not be complete without the smell of your hair, the touch of your hand, the taste of your lips. The beating of your heart, your breath, as you rest on my chest. To hear your sighs and feel the passion, desires coming from within…I know men have surely died for less.”

Quote I Love: Own It!

Writing doesn’t always come easily to me (especially the first draft of a story), so I appreciate quotes like this one.

“Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.”

-Oprah Winfrey
