MORE THAN MOST: Release Date, Blurb & Cover Reveal

RELEASE DATES

MORE is re-releasing around February 10th. This is a re-issue of the previously published e-book. There were some corrections made to the text, but the story is the same. Since this is a re-release, we have to wait until the original version is removed and then upload the new file, but this is our best estimate on when we’ll start having it available. It could take a few days, or even a couple of weeks, before it starts showing up at all the retailers.

MORE THAN MOST (MORE BOOK 2) will be out April 28th. The plan is to have the e-book up for pre-order a couple of weeks before that, which helps it show up quicker at e-bookstores on the actual release date. To give my regular readers a special deal, we’ll be offering MORE THAN MOST at a special introductory price during the pre-order period and for 1 or 2 weeks after release day. After that, it will return to its regular price in May, so be sure to look for the book early. The trade paperback will be out shortly after the e-book is released.

MORE THAN EVER (MORE BOOK 3) is the title for Matthew’s book. This one’s still in the works, so we don’t have an estimate on the release date yet.

STORY DESCRIPTION: MORE THAN MOST (MORE BOOK 2)

Richard, Luke, and Matthew return in this sequel to MORE, a Rainbow Award winner for Best Gay Contemporary Romance. Investment manager and always-in-control Richard Marshall has just landed a historic estate he’s waited years to acquire. Gone a lot for his work, he’s seriously craving his men. Yet it’s more than just the sex he’s missing. Emotionally-traumatized Luke is still dealing with the aftereffects of his father’s attempt to kill him, and Matthew’s trying to find his way as part of a ménage
relationship.

When Luke and Matthew come clean with Richard about what they’ve been feeling, he knows there’s only one way to solve all his problems: keep them close by accepting their help to investigate why someone wants to destroy the mansion he’s trying to save. When it becomes clear he’s put his family in danger, Richard has to
choose between giving up control and pushing away the men he loves right when they’ve started to heal and have rekindled the explosive chemistry that brought them all together.

A ménage relationship is hard enough. Add in danger, intrigue, a haunted mansion, and three sexually frustrated men, and it’s not a typical love story. It’s much more.

Status Update

Well it’s been a while since I posted anything. I didn’t mean to completely ignore my blog, but it was for good reasons, I assure you. I’ve had my head down in my writing cave for several weeks now, and I thought I’d take a quick break to do a status update on my current projects. So here’s where things are:

MORE THAN MOST (MORE #2)
The second book of Richard, Matthew, and Luke’s series was submitted to my publisher. I’m waiting to hear back on that, so I don’t have any news to share regarding a release date. I hope to know more soon. In the meantime here’s another brief snippet from Richard’s point of view: Sadness overwhelmed me. For Dominic and his friends in the nursing home. And for Matthew. If he outlived Luke and me, what would his final years be like? Would he have anywhere to go? Would he end up at someplace like Legacy Village? Not if I could help it. If nothing else, I’d leave him a stockpile of cash. There had to be a number of nicer nursing and retirement homes in the city. Could money buy the kind of security I wanted for him? It hadn’t done anything to protect Anne. And neither had I.
MORE THAN EVER (MORE #3) – tentative title
Matthew’s book is half drafted. This is the fastest I’ve ever written a first pass. There’ll be quite a bit of revising to do on it, but getting the initial draft done is the hardest part for me so I’m thrilled with the progress. And I’m very excited about this story. Matthew is really finding his way, and the threesome are moving into a new phase of their relationship.
THE HAVEN #2 (No title yet)
The outline is finished, and I completely love Seth and Vargas together. They are both so vulnerable, and it should be an incredibly emotional ride for them. This is actually the next book I’ll be working on, but I wanted to get a draft down of More #3 while the ideas were fresh in my mind. The goal is to finish the rough draft of More #3, then complete The Haven #2.
THE HAVEN #3 (No title yet)
I’ve got a few notes down for this story. I’m pretty sure I’m set with who I want the couple to be (and how they’re going to meet and get together), but I’ll wait to share more on that until I’m further along with writing book 2 in case I change course for any reason.
Also, I may be writing a short story that I can’t get out of my head, but we’ll see if I can fit it in somewhere in the next few months.

It’s done! It’s done!

I’m delighted to share that I just finished MORE THAN MOST, the sequel to MORE. I’m having someone give it a final review this weekend, then it’ll be off to my editor. Hopefully I’ll know more about a release date before too long.

Prior to working with my editor, it’s around 94,500 words. All Richard’s point of view.

A part of me thought I might never finish this book (for reasons that had very little to do with the writing of it), so I’m beyond excited right now and thrilled with how it turned out. I’m also grateful I didn’t write this sequel right after the first book. It definitely wouldn’t have been the same story. There’s a vulnerability to Richard I’m not sure I would’ve captured without some distance from Luke’s point of view. I know Richard now even better than when I was writing the first book.

And Matthew… there’s so much more I know about him as well, but I’ll keep that to myself until his story. All I can say is that I’m more in love with him than ever. Richard and Luke too.

When an author acts out the scenes (without really meaning to)

Right now I’m putting the final polish on MORE THAN MOST. (I’m so thrilled with how it’s turned out and I can’t wait to share it!) At this point in the process, I usually spend my days walking around the house reading the manuscript aloud. I look for anything that stands out: repetitive or missing words, odd phrasing in dialogue, continuity issues, moments when an emotional reaction would up the intensity of the scene, that kind of thing.

I’m also at the point where I know the story so well that I sometimes start “acting out” certain parts. Every time I read the same scene over and over, I make hand gestures and facial expressions when the characters do. I lick my lips when they do. I move when and how they do. (And let me just say, I’m so glad no one has a camera anywhere near me during this phase of the writing process.)

So I thought it might be fun to share some of the specific moments from my books where I caught myself really stepping into the role of the characters.

So in no particular order, here are my more embarrassing moments as a writer:

I squeezed my eye shut imitating Walter when Kevin punched him, and then dabbed at the “tender” skin below my eye. (HOW TO SAVE A LIFE)
I banged my fist on my desk when Luke did the same on a diner table after talking with his father. (MORE)
I limped around the house like Richard after he’d twisted his ankle. (MORE THAN MOST)
I went to scoop up little Jessica and carry her through the house like Lincoln did when Nancy’s place was on fire. (BREATHE)
I shoved open the (non-existent) bathroom stall door and stormed across the room when Lincoln found out who the man was that he’d kissed. (BREATHE)
I squinted as the wind whipped around Evan when he was trapped in the blizzard, even though I was writing that book in the middle of summer. (TAKE ME HOME)
I raised my arm to shuffle Mateo into his apartment just as Grady did when he finally located him. (I SWEAR TO YOU)
I picked up the pace when Mark raced after Scott when Scott freaked out and ran out of Mark’s apartment after they’d tried to spend their first night together. (MORE THAN JUST A GOOD BOOK)
I puffed out my cheeks when Sean stuffed his mouth with two dinner rolls when he’d first met Gavin. (SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN)

And perhaps the MOST embarrassing:

I reached for my dick (of which I do not have) when Walter told Kevin to touch himself. And I did it again every single time I read that scene. (HOW TO SAVE A LIFE)

Now that’s dedication, right? Or a really, REALLY nutty writer, I’m not sure which.

I’ll just say I’m very passionate about my work and leave it at that.
