The fabulous Ethan Day has interviewed me about my Rainbow Award-winning book Breathe and the moment in my own life that led me to the story.

I adore Ethan and his writing, so to hear he enjoyed Breathe was quite a thrill. Thanks for the thoughtful questions and such kind remarks about this book, Ethan!

  1. Great interview, Sloan! I feel like I should re-read Breathe because I didn’t get a deep enough appreciation for it as Ethan did. Congrats.

    • Thanks, Shay! I think that’s the wonderful thing about fiction. We all take away from it something unique to us, to our experiences and insights into human nature that give us a different take on the characters and their stories. We’re influenced by our mood at the time and what we feel like reading. That’s why one book can be a great read for some people, and that same book can be a disappointment to others who usually have similar tastes. It’s what makes the reading experience a very personal thing, and what makes it meaningful to me, as the author, to know that even just one person connects on a very meaningful level with a story I’ve written.
