BREATHE recently received three wonderful reviews. I try not to get too focused on reviews for fear both the good and bad will mess with my head, but I have to say, I was thrilled to see such lovely comments. (oh, and don’t get me wrong. I love to SEE reviews for my work. Just not sure authors like me should read his/her own if they are going to interrupt the writing. Reviews are for the readers.)

A Best Book by Tuberose at Whipped Cream Reviews
“This is one of the best books I’ve read since I started reading m/m books. Sloan Parker does it again with her sophomore release. Her characters, Lincoln and Jay, are so well written that you fall in love with them and are cheering them on towards their happily ever after despite the odds against them.”

A Recommended Read from Doug at Dark Divas Reviews
“…to place two characters who have such a major event tying them together and holding them apart at the same time…it was captivating. And without giving anything away, I’ll simply state that this talented author has delivered. She has managed to create both as sympathetic, sexual, and lovable. Their relationship becomes something you not only want but need to see succeed.”

A Top Pick from DH Starr at The Romance Reviews
“The characters, their issues, and the action was organic, flowing beautifully from one scene to the next. The fact Ms. Parker has managed this with a large cast of characters and fast-paced movement is nothing short of masterful writing.”

The Sloan-is-celebrating GIVEAWAY

In celebration of this good news, I’d like to give a little something back to the universe…so I’m giving away free ebooks today. Here’s how it works…

  • Comment on my blog post to enter the giveaway stating which of my ebooks (MORE or BREATHE) you’d like to win.
  • FIVE of the commenters will be randomly selected to win their choice.
  • The ebooks are available in winner’s choice of these formats: PDF, EPUB, PRC, LIT, or HTML.
  • Giveaway ends at 11:59 PM EST on Saturday, January 22, 2011.
  • Please don’t put any links in your comment. Sometimes those get caught in the spam filter.
  • Do include your email address in the Email form field.

I’ll contact (via email) the winning five on Sunday.

Good luck!
Sloan

Update – To all who’ve entered the giveaway:

First off, thank you to those of you who already purchased one or both of my ebooks. As I have more releases, I hope you have a chance to win a future contest.

Looks like there are 18 entries in the giveaway. Since this was a quick weekend contest and you were all good enough to stop by and share which book you are interested in (and since I’m still in such a great mood), I’m going to say “forget the five” and am sending everyone who entered one free book. Look for an email from me verifying which book you want and asking you for a preferred format. Congratulations to all. If you don’t get an email from me by Monday morning, feel free to contact me in case I missed you or the email got lost.

I hope you enjoy the story!
Sloan

I just read Breathe. OMG what a wonderful story! I am a complete angst addict and sure delivered some very good angst. I need to sit down and write down my thoughts ’cause that’s what I do.

Since I already read Breathe, I would love to read More.

  19. hannah Says:

I just finished reading “More” a couple of days ago. I’d love to win a copy of “Breathe”

Thanks, everyone. Nice to see such interest in my stories. Reading all the wonderful comments about More and Breathe made my day. Thank you and best of luck on the giveaway! I’ll post the names of the winners tomorrow as I’m about done for the day.

Phoenix: Thanks! So glad you think Breathe sounds interesting.

Jerilin: Thank you for the congrats and glad you like the idea of the menage in More!

Chris: Thank you! Reviewers and bloggers are such a big part of helping to spread the word about ebooks, and when you see comments like these it’s even sweeter.

TJ: Thank you! And I appreciate you wanting to check out Breathe.

George: So glad to hear you think Breathe sounds good.

Tim: That’s cool. Thanks. And I would love for you to read it.

Dianna: I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed Breathe. If you win More, I hope you enjoy it just as much.

Diane: Bribed? Hmmm…I suppose I could if it was the right…oh, wait. I’ll be good and say no. Thank you for the congrats.

Patricia: That’s awesome to hear you think so. It was a wonderful (and sometimes intense) experience to write both stories, and I’m thrilled you enjoyed them. Thanks for letting me know.

Ike: Kind of you to comment, even with the hate. LOL! Glad you like the sound of Breathe. I was never quite sure how the concept was going to go over. What a wonderful compliment for you to think it sounds like something you’d like to write.

  21. Sloan Parker Says:

Melanie: I love how sweetly you asked. I hope you get a chance to read More.

Lori: Thank you about More. I loved writing their story, and I miss those boys.

Jan: Very cool that you’d like to read More. Thanks! And thank you about my take on reviews. I’ve done some blind judging for contests and that was hard enough. I couldn’t imagine attempting to review a book in a public way. Hats off to those who can and do.

Ethan: Thanks. Always nice to hear there’s good buzz going. Good luck in the contest.

KC: So glad to hear More worked out for you and that you want to give another one of my stories a go. I’ve been working on my next two for a while now, and they’re starting to really come together.

PD: Fabulous to hear you think both books sound good. I hope you enjoy them if you do get a chance to read either.

Sherri: Thanks so much for stopping by and expressing an interest in trying out my work.

Aurora: Thanks!! You’re sweet to let me know what you thought of Breathe. Glad to hear it was the right kind of angst for you.

Hannah: Thanks for picking up a copy of More. I hope you get a chance to check out Breathe someday. Maybe soon. *g*

Is it still OK to try? I saw “Breathe” in my GR friend’s “to-read” list and it looked good, so I went and read an excerpt it was even better so I ended up on your blog trying to win the book ^_^

  23. Sloan Parker Says:

Hi Suhi! So glad you liked the excerpt. Since I was being lazy and went to bed last night without marking the contest close or disabling comments, you’re in.
