Video I love: Help! I can’t open this newfangled “book”

Once a week, I post a video I’ve seen recently that I’m loving. So here’s this week’s Video I love …

It’s a sketch of a monk who tries to read a book (as opposed to a scroll) when books were first introduced.

Enjoy!

Note: This video has English subtitles.

I love this video for several reasons:

  1. I love books.
  2. I needed a laugh when I first saw this. And this one had me busting up.
  3. I worked in an IT department for 10 years. I answered quite a lot of help desk calls and usually ended up having to go out to the person’s desk. The mannerisms in this video are spot on! And the bit at the end when the book is flipped the wrong way was perfect. (A tangent: My favorite story from work was when a woman who usually called me once a week left me a voice mail. We had the same first name and when she left her message, she said, “Hi. This is …” only she gave my full name instead of hers. It seems she was that frustrated by her computer, she had lost all knowledge, including her own name.  She never did catch her mistake, so at least she didn’t have to feel bad about that).

This video does make me wonder what it will be like when my parents try to read an ebook for the first time  (although they are pretty tech savvy as compared to some, so I guess we’ll see. My brother will probably be worse. He still needs his kids to boot up the PC when he wants to play solitaire).

Was it good for you too? Comment or send me an email. I’d love to hear from you.

Video I love: Love Scene from Shelter Movie

I saw this clip from the movie Shelter recently and thought it was a nice love scene.  I have yet to see the movie, but it seems like something I’m going to like. And there have been quite a few good reviews and awards.

Video I love: That’s Gay – Commercials

Once a week, I post a video I’ve seen recently that I’m loving. So here’s this week’s Video I love …

A  light look at a real absence of gay imagery on TV and some sad commercials that make being gay something gross.

I must admit, though, I do like watching the gay commercials on LOGO. It is nice to feel included in society, even if it is on a channel watched mostly by those in the know.

So tell me, what do you think? Do you wish there were more commercials featuring gay men and women? What types of content would make for positive LGBT images? Comment or send me an email. I’d love to hear from you.

Video I love: The first kiss (Noah and Luke)

Once a week, I post a video I’ve seen recently that I’m loving. So here’s this week’s Video I love …

I was looking through my YouTube favorites today and I realized I’m still loving this kiss from As the World Turns.

Awhile back when I heard a soap opera was developing a gay love story for a major character, I wanted to show some support. I caught up with the characters online at YouTube which was the first time I had ever watched ATWT. Then I started recording the show. I see this as a major step for US daytime broadcast television and I’ll continue supporting the efforts of ATWT as long as they keep the couple going as a loving relationship between two men. Kudos to CBS, the producers, writer, and actors (Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann).

So here’s the first kiss between Luke and Noah (or as I so often mess up their names … Loah and Nuke).

So tell me what you think. Do you watch the show? Applaud CBS?

Video I love: A romantic look at Brian and Justin

I’m still loving Queer as Folk. Here’s a romantic look at Brian and Justin. When you can’t hear Brian talk or watch him with other guys, you can really see how much he loves Justin. Not an easy thing to pull off. Kudos to Gale Harold.
