I’ve already posted some of my original character details and pictures for Luke and Richard (from More). Now I’m sharing about Matthew.
These are directly from the original character sketch sheet, including the photos I used for inspiration before writing the book.
Photos for Inspiration
The final result of what a character looks like may be nothing like the photo, but an image gives me something to visualize, making him a bit more real.

All my blog posts with behind the story information are also archived on my website at www.sloanparker.com
Hope you enjoyed a look at some of my initial ideas for Matthew.

Just realized I haven’t posted any of my favorite quotes from MORE. Thought I’d share one this week.
Here’s a moment between Luke and Matthew. This is just before Richard joins them on their third night together.
I unbuttoned his pants, then started on my own. He slid his off in an effortless motion, never moving with any awkwardness. My pants and underwear tangled at my feet with my shoes, and I had to give a few good kicks to get them off and onto the floor. Next to him, my writhing and kicking made me look like a finalist for the ten thousand dollar cash prize on America’s Funniest Home Videos. Beautiful was the best word to describe him.
Once we were naked, our bodies connected again in a rush, like sex-crazed teenagers given the go-ahead on prom night, diving for each other. Six days must have been too long for either of us to wait to be together again. How did I think I was ever going to give him up? Either of them?
The idea of never having Richard again twisted my gut into a rigid knot. When he came back to the club, we’d hook up with him again.
We had to.
If you want to check out more of MORE you can read the first two chapters here (PDF).
Have a good one,

Sharing a few videos today. Here are three songs that remind me of my upcoming release, Breathe: “Breathe (2AM)” by Anna Nalick, “Breathe” by Faith Hill, and “Better Days” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
Anna Nalick’s song has a couple lines that are very much at the core of Lincoln and Jay’s story. And remarkably, I did not think of this song when first writing the book or selecting the title.
Cause you can’t jump the track, we’re like cars on a cable,
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button, boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe… just breathe
The lyrics for “Better Days” really mean something to me when I think of Breathe.
So take these words
And sing out loud
Cuz everyone is forgiven now
Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins againAnd it’s someplace simple where we could live
And something only you can give
And thats faith and trust and peace while we’re alive
And this part from “Breathe” by Faith Hill:
In a way I know my heart is waking up
As all the walls come tumbling down
I’m closer than I’ve ever felt before
And I know
And you know
There’s no need for words right now‘Cause I can feel you breathe
It’s washing over me
Suddenly I’m melting into you
There’s nothing left to prove
Baby all we need is just to be
Caught up in the touch
The slow and steady rush
Baby, isn’t that the way that love’s supposed to be
I can feel you breathe
Just breathe
I’m a little excited for this release. Can you tell?
