Yep, my Dad’s at it again. You won’t believe this one.
My entire family was sitting around the dinner table after my mom and dad had returned from a weekend trip (during which I had stopped over to feed their cat).
Me: So, Dad, what was that lumpy plastic bag downstairs by the cat’s food?
Dad: All the poop I saved.
Me: (almost chokes on a mouthful of dinner roll) What?
Dad: That cat puts out more than she takes in, so I did an experiment.
Me: What do you mean, experiment?
Dad: I bought a new bag of cat food and when it was all gone, I weighed all her poop to compare.
Me: Say what?
Dad: I weighed the poop and compared it to the weight of the cat food. 2 lbs of cat food. 3 lbs of poop. Something is wrong with that cat.
Me: Did you weigh just the poop?
Dad: What do you mean? I scooped it out and kept it in the bag.
Me: Did you weigh her urine?
Dad: Well, I guess. But that can’t weigh that much.
My sister: I think it does.
Dad: Nah. Probably not that much.
Me: You use scoopable litter. That clumps around the urine and weighs a lot.
Dad: I don’t think so. And I factored in the weight of the litter on the poop.
Me: How did you do that?
My sis: He counted the kernels on each turd.
All I kept thinking with each bite of my food was I cannot believe we are having this conversation.
He’s going to redo the experiment without the urine and report back.
I shared this one on Facebook last week and knew it had to be my video of the week for my blog. It just makes me laugh every time I watch it. Hope it does the same for you.

This one’s for all you cat owners out there. I think it’s exactly what happens to me when I try to sleep in (minus the bat).
Thanks to Rain on the Roof for sharing the link to the original site via Twitter.

Have a great week,

Cats will do ANYTHING for food.
For those of you who don’t know, I’m a big animal lover, and this cute (slightly odd) vid made me smile today. I hope it does the same for you.
Hope you have a great week!

Once a week, I post about something I’m loving (tv, movies, books, art, photos, romances, authors, or anything else) that I’ve seen or read about recently. So here is this week’s For the Love of …
I’m sharing more videos this week. Sometimes a great animal story can just make my day. Thanks to Rosie for sharing these with me.
This first one reminds me of my cat Hunter. He’s pretty good at giving kisses, and I don’t use any food as a reward. I’m not sure if that means Hunter is really smart, or really stupid. Or maybe I am because I let him lick my cheek.
This one shows baby raccoons being rescued from a vending machine. Awww, come on, you know it’s cute. Baby raccoons. You can say it…
Here’s one about an amazing dog named Faith. A few years ago, I saw the story of how her owners taught her to walk on two legs. It wasn’t an easy task. It took them many hours working with her and a lot of lost sleep (so she wouldn’t hurt herself). Amazing. Now she’s helping recovering veterans. Pretty cool.
You can read more about Faith on her site: http://faiththedog.info (be sure to check out her puppy pic)
And here’s a pic of Faith with Rick Springfield for my friend Connie. Enjoy, hon!
Have a good one!

With the close of every year, I try to take a few minutes to remember all the wonderful moments of my life, the friends and family and significant times that have made the year special for me.
As 2009 came to a close, I took a moment to remember one special little guy who brightened many days for me, but unfortunately lost his battle with cancer this past year. Today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite photos of him. He was a big part of what made me smile every day, and I thank my niece for suggesting I take a look at this homeless little guy all those years ago.
Jesse was smart and regal and full of live. And he was a fighter. He was sick from the minute I adopted him. Several times my vet looked at me in that caring way he has and tried to tell me he didn’t think Jesse would have a long life, that this time it might be the end. But Jesse would have none of that. He came back to full force many times over and lived to play another day. He was one of the gentlest, smartest pets I’ve ever known. It was hard sometimes to tell he was blind.
Thanks to these pictures, Jesse still makes me smile.
I hope you all have a wonderful, healthy, happy 2010!!

Today, I’m loving my cat, Cordy.
This week, I’ve been busy with writing deadlines, family obligations, and home repair issues. It’s been a little stressful. Cordy is a simple creature, and sometimes, I admire that. She likes a good nap, being fed on time, and playing with her brothers. And plus, she’s just darn cute.
